제목 Fabrication of urushiol-based antimicrobial material by emulsion polymerization
초록 We suggest an emulsion polymerization method of lacquer sap to fabricate urushiol powder with antimicrobial activity. Urushiol which is a main component of lacquer sap has useful properties such as good durability, thermal stability and antimicrobial activity. Lacquer sap should be polymerized by laccase-catalyzed reaction for practical application due to the allege reaction of skin. Conventional polymerization methods produced film type products which required additional grinding process to utilize polymerized urushiol compound. We introduce an emulsion polymerization method which directly produces the urushiol powder without grinding process. The polymerized urushiol powder was analyzed by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), optical microscope (OM) and antimicrobial test. The urushiol powder exhibited 99.99% antimicrobial activity and we demonstrated the application of the urushiol powder in antimicrobial products.
