제목 Product Analysis of Supercritical Fluid and Catalytic Transesterification
초록 The research discusses the products from catalytic transesterification and near-supercritical alcohols of VVO (virgin vegetable oil) and WVO (waste vegetable oil). The catalytic transesterification was based solely on methanol with potassium hydroxide (KOH) as the catalyst; whereas, the supercritical fluid method was based on methanol and ethanol. The reaction temperature of 64 0C and holding time of 60 minutes is considered for catalytic transesterification, each product obtained was subjected to three cycles of distilled water wash. Likewise, reaction temperature of 260 0C and holding time of 0 min is considered in the supercritical fluid method. The oil to alcohol molar ratio of 1:6 is used in both the processes. Furthermore, the research also discusses the reason behind the stratification of biodiesel and glycerol in the obtained products of each process.
