Hydration of Nitriles to Amides Catalyzed bye Nanoporous Nickel Phosphate |

A new family of open-framework nickel phosphate VSB-n (Versailles/Santa Barbara) has been discovered and applied for its application in heterogeneous catalysis. Amides are used in a wide variety of industrial applications such as lubricants, detergent additives, drug stabilizers, and monomers. We synthesized VSB-5 under microwave assisted reaction system. VSB-5 was applied for the hydrolysis of benzonitrile to form benzamide using hydrogen peroxide as the chosen method in the heterogeneous system. We describe the development of reactive, nanoporous nickel phosphate catalyst VSB-5 for the hydrolysis of nitriles. |
