The formation of various polystyrene (PS) colloidal structures on striped PS patterns is demonstrated based on a simple and novel convective assembly method. The striped substrates were withdrawn from an aqueous solution of PS colloids and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) under various conditions. In particular, based on the relationship between the diameter of PS colloids and the width of the striped channels in a colloidal assembly, various structural arrangements were observed. In addition, this lithographic method was used to generate molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) sensors as a demonstration of a potential practical application. Three different poly(MAA-EGDMA) MIP sensing films were fabricated for detection of trace atrazine in an aqueous solution with planar MIP and non-MIP films used as comparisons. As a result, it was proved that these MIP sensing platforms were highly efficient for herbicide detection through gravimetric quartz crystal microbalance measurements. |
