As interest in Green New Deal increase worldwide, water electrolysis method for generation of hydrogen without CO2 and by-product is drawing attention. The two half reactions of water splitting, hydrogen (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER), have shown good electrochemical performance in acidic and basic conditions, respectively. To use full cell with particular pH, pH-universal electrode need to be fabricated. The use of nickel foam(NF) is advantageous in terms of conductivity and 3D active sites. Nickel selenide is expected higher catalytic activity owing to increasing covalency compared to oxide and sulfide. To the best of our knowledge, there are many cases, what nickel selenide is used as pH-universal HER, but there is no research in pH-universal OER. In this study, we synthesized Ni3Se2, NiSe, a mixture of Ni3Se2 and Ni(OH)2 on NF using hydrothermal process and verified the possibility for pH-universal OER. |
