Study of the glycolysis for chemical recycling process of PET derivates |

PET-G - a non-crystalline terephthalate copolymer - has been used widely in recent decades due to its better excellent optical, chemical and mechanical properties than that of PET (poly ethylene terephthalate). In this study, we investigated the improved catalyst systems on glycolysis PCT, a chemical recycling of the polymer, by studying the efficiency of the catalysts on the model trans-esterifications between monomers (BHCHT) and DEG went when each catalyst was applied. BHCHT (bis (4-hydroxymethyl)cyclohexylmethyl terephthalate)) was prepared for investigating the trans esterifying catalytic ability and its structure were analyzed by 1H-NMR. The efficiency catalysts were obtained by monitoring the reaction rate of the model trans-esterifications and real polymer glycolysis. The co-catalyst of Zinc acetate and NaOEt with the molar ratio of 1:5 performed the best catalytic efficiency in comparison with zinc acetate, zinc methoxide, sodium ethoxide in PET-G glycolysis. |
