The bio-composite reinforced with bio-fillers have been recognized as very attractive materials for reducing the environmental problems. Natural filler filled, thermoplastic polymer bio-composites are used extensively in various applications. Lately, natural filler filled bio-composites have been widely used as automotive interior parts. The automotive industry requires bio-composites materials that meet performance criteria as determined in a wide range of properties such as mechanical properties, low odor emission, and so on. However, there have been few studies on reducing odor and volatile organic compound (VOC) emission of bio-flour filled bio-composites. With increasing concerns about indoor air quality, automotive interior have become widely recognized as important sources of VOC emissions that contribute to problems of indoor air pollution. The purpose of this study is to investigate the mechanical properties and VOC emission of bio-composites. |
