제목 Coaxial electrospinning of PEO-PLA and attachment of silica particles onto PLA fiber for drug release control
초록 The controlled release of drug, peptides, proteins & even pDNA, is difficult to satisfactorily accomplish with conventional approaches. In this study, we prepared SiO2 nanoparticles attached core-shell fibers by ‘Electrohydrodynamic Jetting of Countercharged nozzles’ (EJC). OM & SEM images reveal smooth (bead free) surfaces of core-shell (PEO-PLA) fibers with physically attached SiO2 particles. The release test of rhodamine-B loaded in PEO phase was studied using UV-visible spectroscopy. The physically attached SiO2 particles were embedded into core-shell fibers by solvent vapor annealing (SVA) with different times. It concluded that 20 mins of SVA gave half embedded SiO2 particles. In particular, we proposed a strategy for on-off drug release systems. By sonication, SiO2 particles can be detached from core-shell fibers with possible release control of dye. This work suggests one possible approach for controlled release of such actives using SiO2 particles attached core-shell fibers.
