제목 Poly(vinyl alcohol)-grafted graphene oxide/poly(vinyl alcohol) nanocomposite films for the gas barrier applications
초록 Commercial applications of gas barrier films, ranging from packaging films to displays, have been extensively studied. Traditional materials such as metal and glass have been used as barriers to block gases. However, these materials in barrier films are limited because they are expensive and difficult to fabricate. Alternatively, the use of polymer in barrier films has attracted significant attention due to low cost and facile process. Especially, poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) is an oxygen barrier resin with good gas barrier properties. Moreover, graphene oxide (GO) extends the gas pathway as a result of gas-impermeable atomic structure. The barrier properties of GO/PVA composites depend on the dispersion of the graphene sheet in the PVA matrix. Grafting modification is important to attach polymer chains onto the surfaces of graphene sheets for good dispersion in the PVA matrix. In this study, PVA-grafted GO/PVA composites exhibited not only high transmittance but gas barrier properties.
