New strategy for partial oxidation of methane via in situ H2O2 generation |
초록 |
Since methane is the main component of natural gas, partial methane oxidation has been widely studied as a promising route for chemical fuel synthesis. However partial oxidation of methane is a challenging process due to molecular inertness of methane (high C-H bond dissociation energy and low polarity) against activation or over-oxidation to CO2. Here we propose new methane oxidation system applying electrochemical oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). In this system in situ generated H2O2 via ORR activated CH4 and 10 μmol•h-1 of HCOOH(formic acid) was generated under ambient temperature and pressure (70 °C and 1 bar). Furthermore consecutive partial methane oxidation was successfully conducted for 12 hours. |
