Morphology control of lead oxide (PbO) particles using cationic, anionic and non-ionic surfactants |
초록 |
Lead oxide has a wide range of applications such as batteries, sensors, etc. In this research lead oxide nanoparticles were synthesized by co-precipitation method in the presence of different cationic, anionic and non-ionic surfactants (CTACl, SDS, Tween 20, Span 65). When aqueous solution of lead (II) acetate was reacted with sodium hydroxide, lead oxide (II) was formed with two different crystalline forms depending on the conditions of the reaction and on the type of surfactants. The surfactants prevent particle aggregation, which leads to a change in the size, shape and the chemical, physical properties of the nanoparticles. The surfactants contain functional groups which can ligate with metal nanoparticles surface and prevent aggregation and degradation of particle. The α-PbO and β-PbO nanoparticles were characterized by XRD, SEM-EDS. The studies reveal the correlation between surfactant types and the formation of the α-PbO and β-PbO with particle sizes less than 1μm. |
