“Phosphosorb” A lanthanum-modified bentonite alginate composite beads, has been prepared and used for the removal of aqueous phosphate. The alteration features of the composite beads were studies by various characterization techniques such as Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The phosphate removal behavior of “hosphosorb” composite beads was studied by batch experiments as a function of various parameters such as pH, initial concentration, contact time, temperature, adsorbent dose and presence of coexisting ions. Additionally, the feasibility of Phosphosorb beads for the removal of phosphate from aqueous solutions was assessed in fixed bed column system. |
