Photo-responsive block copolymers of poly(NIPAAm)-b-poly(NIPAAm-co-SPO) were synthesized by reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization and their self-assembly behavior was examined under UV irradiation. Spironaphthoxazine (SPO) derivatives are the well–known photochromic compounds that offer a range of potential applications and show excellent light–fatigue resistance; therefore, they are expected to be more reliable and durable photochromically controlled systems. In the preparation, composition and molecular weights were manipulated to control photo-sensitivity and morphological changes of corresponding polymeric vehicles. |
