Polyurethane foam is used as an insulation material in various fields such as construction and ships due to its excellent mechanical strength and thermal performance. In particular, as an insulation material for liquefied natural gas (LNG) ships, glass fiber reinforced polyurethane foam added with glass fiber as a reinforcing material is used to prevent impact caused by sloshing. In this study, mat-type glass fibers of 3×3, 6×6, 9×9, 18×18 (cm×cm) size were prepared to investigate the effect of glass fiber length on the physical properties of glass fiber reinforced polyurethane foam (GF-RPUF). The compressive strength and tensile strength of GF-RPUF according to the length of glass fiber were measured, and the cause of the difference in mechanical strength was analyzed through SEM. |
