Co, Ni, Pd oxide and carbon spheres with a mesostructure were synthesized by nanocasting method in host-guest chemistry using corresponding SBA-16 silica sphere as a hard template. Metal oxides were hydrogenated to metal spheres in the H2 stream at 500 oC. The samples were characterized XRD, BET, SEM, TEM etc. The highly ordered mesoporous metals were employed to synthesize chiral (S)-3-pyrrolidinol from (S)-4-chloro-3-hydroxybutyronitrile. In addition, the mesoporous silica sphere as well as carbon was used to anchor a chiral salen complex and the catalysts showed a high selectivity with a good yield in asymmetric HKR of epoxides. |
