Pyrene moiety can extend the interconnectivity between each polymer by facilitate favorable π−π interaction. We synthesized the various number of pyrene units incorporated into benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b′]- dithiophene-based random copolymers. The effect of pyrene concentration in the copolymers was systematically studied using measurements of the copolymer optical and electrochemical properties, the hole mobilities extracted from the field-effect transistor and the space charge limited current, and the photovoltaic characteristics. We also investigated the morphological changes and found the interactions between pyrenes facilitates the formation of fibrous structures using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), synchrotron X-ray diffraction analysis, AFM, and TEM. As the pyreme concentration increased, multiple pyrene-pyrene interactions within a few polymer chains became too strong to decrease the interconnectivity among many polymer chains. |
