TiO2-SiO2 composite formed using titanium oxychloride as the source of titania and silicic acid as the silica source was synthesized via sol-gel process. The precipitated hydrogels were washed with water or alcohol to evaluate the influence of these solvents on the dried hydrogels. The formed powders were characterized using N2 physisorption studies, FTIR, XRD, TGA, SEM, and TEM. The textural properties of the ethanol-washed sample were relatively superior to its counterparts: BET surface area, pore size, and pore volume were 594 m2/g, 4.8 nm, and 0.71 cm3/g, respectively. |
