Synthesis of Novel End-Functionalized Polymers and Controlled Nano Architecture |

The well defined butadienyl functionalized polystyrene was synthesized by anionic living polymerization using high vacuum technicques. The coupling reactions which used various anion such as polystyryl, polyisoprenyl, and poly(α-methylstyrenyl) anions were performed at -78 and -40 ℃ in THF with time variables. Quantitative and well controlled block copolymers were obtained at -78 ℃ for 24 h for the polystyryl carbanion with butadienyl functionalized polystyrene. On the other cases, undesirable side products have been more or less formed in addition to the end-functionalized polymers in the reactions with butadienyl functionalized polystyrene. The results can be used to build up the star polymers which were controlled for nano architecture. |
