제목 Fabrication and Characterization of the Genatamicin Loaded Microspheres of  Hyaluronic acid and Gelatin and its in-vitro Evaluation of Drug Properties for Treatment of Osteomyelitis Induced by Orthopedic Procedures
초록  This study describes the comparison of a number of microspheres composed of hyaluronic acid(HA), gelatine(GEL) and the combination of hyluronic acid-gelatin (HA-GEL) prepared by the water in oil emulsion system. Gentamicin sulphate was loaded as a model drug in all type of microspheres. In all cases the microspheres revealed the perfect spherical shape with smooth surface which was confirmed by optical microscope and SEM. The size of the microspheres was analyzed by the particle size analyzer. All these three types of microspheres were crosslinked for optimum degradation in such as way to ensure the controlled drug release over 30 days. The gentamicin encapsulation efficiency by all microspheres and the in vitro release profiles of gentamicin from microspheres were evaluated. This study revealed that hyaluronic acid-gelation composite microspheres showed the best controlled release of gentamicin over 30 days which is a consequently very good candidate for delivering local tailored gentamicin concentrations for the prevention of bacterial osteomyelitis in orthopedic surgery.
