The lanthanide(III) ions have attracted attentions due to their narrow and long-lasting luminescence. In this work, we prepared Eu(III) and Tb(III) complexes with phenanthroline derivatives which gelated n-decane. Since Eu(III) and Tb(III) complexes had the same structures except the core ions, they formed stable mixed gels of different compositions that emitted red and green light from Eu(III) and Tb(III) ions, respectively. The TEM image of the dry gel revealed entangled fibers with diameters ranged from 20 nm to 80 nm without evidence of self-sorting. We were able to tune the color of emitted light by controlling gel compositions, and finally, we obtained white light by combining these emissions of Eu(III) and Tb(III) with those of their ligands. |
