We have produced stimuli-responsive hydrogel microfibers with microfluidic device by alginate-templating method and photopolymerization. In this method, aqueous of sodium alginate, hydrogel monomers, crosslinker and photoinitiator was injected into capillary of microfluidic device, while calcium chloride aqueous was injected into other capillary to form a solid microfibers at mixing point of microcapillaries. After gelation of monomers by UV irradiation, calcium-alginate template could be removed to get pure hydrogel microfibers. Furthermore, hollow hydrogel fibers could be produced by changing of injection position for monomer solution. |
