Fabrication of organic/inorganic composite containing reversible crosslinker for development of reusable artificial marble |

In this sturdy, we reported fabrication of organic/inorganic composites based on poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) matrix using reversible crosslinker to develop reusable artificial marble. The reversible reaction of the crosslinker was induced by Diels-Alder reaction between furan and maleimide moiety. The reversibility of the matrix was confirmed by solubility transition in proper solvent after de-crosslinking reaction on high temperature. The organic/inorganic hybrid matrix including reversible crosslinker showed the significant increase in flexural strength and Rockwell hardness. In thermal test, the composites demonstrated higher thermal stability than general artificial marbles, because the reversible reaction of the composite included endo-thermal reaction through retro-Diels-Alder reaction. |
