Enhanced electric field-induced strain in SEBS/Carbon Black nanocomposite Dielectric Elastomers |

Dielectric elastomers have been largely studied due to their high field-induced strain. This specific characteristic is essentially required in a range of applications such as actuators and artificial muscles. However, most dielectric elastomers exhibit that the experimentally observed high strain requires high driving electric field. Therefore, to decrease the required amplitude of electric field and still maintain high strain, using a conductive filler as carbon black is needed. This carbon black is a good conductor which shows the electrical behavior of composite improved thickness strain. In this presentation, we studied that electromechanical properties of Poly (styrene-b-ethylbutylene-b-styrene) (SEBS) /Carbon Black composites. By measuring UTM, Impedence Analyzer, SAXS and Laser sensors, electromechanical responses of dielectric elastomers were significantly affected by contents of carbon black. |
