A flame retardant, PBPP2, was prepared via two-steps reaction and its chemical structure was confirmed by ¹H NMR and FTIR. PLA was polymerized by the ring opening polymerization. The samples for evaluation were prepared via solution casting method. To evaluate the flame retarding ability, limiting oxygen index (LOI) and the vertical burning test was performed. The thermal degradation behavior was illustrated by TGA and real-time FTIR. For PLA-3, LOI increased 23 % to 30 % compared with the pure PLA, and thermal stability also increased. These results indicated that condensed-phase flame retardant mechanism was superior to gas-phase's. Also, the mechanical property and the melting behavior were analyzed by UTM and DSC, respectively. Therefore, we obtained that PBPP2 can simultaneously act as flame retardant and plasticizer. |
