Fuel cells are promising green energy conversion devices because they produce electricity from chemical energy without emitting pollutants. Among them, anion exchange membrane fuel cell have been extensively studied since non-precious metals and carbons can be used as catalysts instead of expensive Pt. In this study, high-performance carbon-coated cobalt nanoparticles (Co@C) are developed through the chemical ligand stabilization method and thermal treatment. Co@C catalyst shows high oxygen reduction reaction activity comparable to that of Pt catalyst in alkaline electrolyte, which is mainly attributed to strong electronic interaction between metallic cobalt nanoparticles and carbon shell |
