Polyisocyanates are one of the most studied polymer for helicity induction which has given several fascinating concepts, such as “Sergeant and Soldier Principle”, “Majority Rule”, and "Cooperative Effect”. Herein, we have synthesized chiral poly(n-hexyl isocyanate) (PHIC) containing chiral moieties at both ends using various synthetic route. By correlating the MW and interplay of helical conformations in PHICs, we have proposed “Double Covalent Chiral Domino Effect” (DCCD). When chiral initiator and chiral terminator is used, the chirality of the initiator plays a deciding role in determining the overall helicity, whereas the chirality of the terminator plays a supporting role. This effect is named as the “Governing Initiation Supporting Termination Effect”. When the initiator and terminator have the same chirality, overall helicity increases, and when their chirality differs, overall helicity decreases. The polymers were characterized by H1-NMR, SEC-LS and CD spectroscopy. |
