Hydroxyapatite coating on 3D printed PEEK/Ti scaffolds for improved strength and biological performance |
초록 |
Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) filaments reinforced withtitanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles by dopamine-induced polymerization wereadditively manufactured for use as an orthopedic implant through materialextrusion (ME). It is followed by coating with hydroxyapatite (HA) using radiofrequency (RF) magnetron sputtering to achieve high strength andbiocompatibility. The results of hardness, tensile and compression, and scratchtesting of the hybrid composite demonstrate that its mechanical strength wasmarkedly enhanced compared with conventional 3D-printed PEEK material due tothe homogenous ceramic–ceramic interactions and intentionally invokedprotuberant nanoscale topography obtained via our design strategy between theinternal TiO2-nanoparticle reinforcement and the external HA coating. |
