Ladder Polysilsesquioxane (LPSQ) (RSiO1.5), the organic-inorganic hybrid materials, has both performance as inorganics and processability as polymers. In this study, cyclotetrasiloxanetetrol is used as a monomer to synthesize ladder polymethylsilsesquioxane (PMSQ) by the step polymerization. First, cyclotetrasiloxanetetrol is synthesized from methyl trialkoxysilanes, which results in four kinds of isomers according to the synthetic conditions. Among them, all-cis and cis-trans-cis isomers are selectively synthesized as a monomer. The chemical structure of isomers is confirmed by H NMR and IR. Using those selected monomers, PMSQs is synthesized by step polymerization method. Molecular weight and polymerization mechanism will be discussed with different reaction conditions such as solvent, catalyst, and temperature. Besides, the change of the polymer structure of PMSQs through XRD will be analyzed and the influence of monomer type and polymerization reaction condition will be examined. |
