Polymers of intrinsic microporosity (PIMs) have become a center of attention as high performance gas separation membranes due to their high porosity and surface area. To develop advanced PIMs, introducing rigid chain such as ethanoanthracene (EA), Tröger's base (TB) has been adopted to reduce chain mobility which leads to enhancement of gas selectivities. In particular, compared with the dioxan ring, TB is a highly rigid structure due to bridged bicyclic nitrogen atoms in its structure. Therefore, introducing TB to PIMs can be regarded as a method for preparing higher gas separation properties. In this study, we designed PIMs containing TB unit with varieties of novel moieties for the purpose of superior performance. We synthesized novel TB-PIMs and optimized polymerization of each monomer. The synthesized TB-PIMs were confirmed by ¹H NMR and IR spectroscopy. Also, we analyzed their properties through BET surface area, gas permeability test and so on. |
