Since W. H. Perkin discovered “Mauveine” in 1856, dyes have been classified in various ways according to “chemical structure” or “application”. Many of the new synthetic dyes are used in various areas such as optical data storage, printer, bio-analysis, PDT(photodynamic therapy) color filter, solar cell, OLED, PDP, organic semiconductor and security printing with using their characteristics. The application and development of these colorants are discussed and some results of our studies in the field of functional colorants are presented. |
