Synthesis of bolaamphiphilic sophorolipid-β-cyclodextrin and evaluation of their antibacterial activity |

Sophorolipid is a class of microbial surfactant produced by Candida sp. Sophorolipid has antibacterial activity and β-cyclodextrin can form the inclusion complex with antibiotics. Here, we synthesis of sophorolipid-β-cyclodextrin bolaamphiphilic surfactant composed of β-cyclodextrin and sophorose connected by hexadecane. Sophorolipid-β-cyclodextrin was successfully synthesized by reacting mono-6-amino-6-deoxy-β-cyclodextrin with N-hydroxysuccinimide ester of acidic sophorolipid. Sophorolipid-β-cyclodextrin was characterized by NMR, FT-IR and MALDI-TOF MS spectroscopy analysis. We also investigated the antibacterial activities of sophorolipid-β-cyclodextrin for E. coil and S. aureus. |
