제목 Comparison of Power production of Anode current Collectors number in Microbial Fuel Cells.
초록 Microbial Fuel cells (MFC) are environmental energy system for generating electricity from organic waste stream. A carbon brush, commonly used as an anode in a microbial fuel cell, has one current collector. One collector is not efficient in collecting electrons. In this study, we investigated the effect of increasing the number of anode current collectors. Cathode was used a conductive diffusion layer cathode, and the anode was made of carbon felt and stainless steel mesh. The anode electrode was made of 7 pieces of the same size carbon felt between 8 stainless steel meshes with a diameter of 2.5 cm to increase the contact between the current collector and the microbial adhesion portion. The power density was 627 mW/m2 and 169 mW/m2 for 8CC felt and carbon fiber brush respectively. The internal resistance of carbon fiber brush (81 Ω) was higher than 8CC felt (37 Ω). We concluded that increasing the number and area of the current collector helps improve the performance of MFC.
