제목 Investigation of Surfactant HLB on the size and morphology of HMX particles obtained by combined cooling and anti-solvent crystallization
초록 The purpose of this work was to investigate the role of hydrophilic–lipophilic balance (HLB) of surfactants on the morphology and size of HMX. The HMX crystals were prepared by a combined cooling and anti-solvent crystallization procedure. In this study, combined hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (CHLB) numbers 4.3, 6.98, 9.65, 12.33, and 15 were obtained, by varying the %w/w of Span 80 and Tween 80 in the form (100:0, 75:25, 50:50, 25:75 and 0:100 %w/w) respectively. The HMX crystals ranged between 15 – 50 µm as the mixture containing, propylene carbonate (solvent), water (antisolvent) with a ratio 80:20 and 90:10 %w/w respectively is rapidly cooled. Dimensions and morphology of the crystals is examined using particle size distribution and optical and scanning electron microscopes.
