In-situ Synthesis of Water-Soluble Conducting Polymer-Iron(III) Chloride Composite |

A new class of ionic polyacetylene-FeCl3 composites was effectively prepared via the in-situ synthesis of 2-ethynylpyridine using FeCl3 in various solvents. The reaction mechanism was assumed that the activated triple bond of ethynylpyridinium salt(2EP-FeCl3), formed at the initial reaction time, is susceptible to linear polymerization, followed by an identical propagation step that contains the produced macroanion and quaternized monomeric species. The UV-visible spectra of composite showed absorption maximum values were 480 nm and 533 nm and the PL maximum value was 598 nm. The cyclic voltammogram of composite composite exhibited irreversible electrochemical behavior between the oxidation and reduction peaks. |
