Redox flow battery has gained much interest in recent years. Because it has advantages of the energy efficiency, long life-cycle and low costs. However, crossover of bromine and low strength are the limitation of the commercialization of membranes for zinc-bromine redox flow battery. In this study, mixed solution were prepared with Nafion solution and silica nanoparticle by the solution blending and they were impregnated in porous PTFE film. This composite membranes will be employed as the separator for zinc-bromine redox flow battery. The characteristic and morphology were investigated by SEM, UTM and LCR meter. The bromine permeability of the membrane was measured with the UV-VIS spectrophotometer. The silica nanoparticles and PTFE film might reduce the permeation of bromine through the membrane and enhance the mechanical properties. It will extend the life-cycle of the redox flow battery. |
