In the past several years there has been increasing interest in polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane-based polymers as organic-inorganic hybrid materials. The hybrid materials display enhanced properties, such as thermal and oxidative stability, toughness, and processability, by bridging the property space between two dissimilar types of materials. We have taken an approach to the synthesis of hybrid materials by grafting various contents of polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane molecules onto the backbone of poly(ethylhydrosiloxane) which has intrinsic weak thermal and oxidative stabilities. The resulting structure was confirmed by FT-IR and 1H-NMR spectroscopy. The thermal analysis of the hybrid material was determined by TGA and DSC. |
