Aromatic polyimides (PIs) are generally known as high-performance polymeric materials having excellent thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties. However, most of PIs are insoluble and infusible because of their rod-like chain conformation and strong interchain interactions. In this study, we synthesized new soluble PIs by introducing two CF3 pendent groups onto the aromatic ring of main chains. The PIs showed good solubility and good optical and thermal properties. Interestingly, these soluble polyimides showed a LCST behavior in organic solvents, while most of LCST behaviors have been observed with coil-like polymers dissolved in aqueous solution. |
