Biomass-based carbon electrode for electrical double layer capacitor |

Highly porous carbon materials were prepared from biomass through chemical activation process. The various physical properties of the prepared novel carbon materials were determined from the measured nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherms data at 77 K. The prepared carbon materials were then used for making of electrode for electrical double layer capacitor. To investigate the electrochemical properties of biomass-based carbon electrode in an aqueous electrolyte solution, the cyclic voltammetry as well as impedance analyses were conducted using a three-electrode cell. It was observed that the prepared highly porous carbon material-based electrodes showed the high specific capacitance for a selected electrolyte solution. |
