Aged commercial R-Ni catalyst was partially regenerated using five different pretreatment methods such as acids (HNO3, H2SO4, C2H2O4 and C6H8O7), alkali (KOH), cleaning agents (MIBK), steam and microwave. The aged and its partially regenerated catalysts were characterized using nitrogen adsorption, XRD, SEM, FT-IR and EDX. It was found from the catalytic activity tests that the acid aqueous pretreatment had a positive effect on the toluene oxidation.
