Highly dispersed Pt-Ru particles on carbon nanotubes (PtRu/CNT) were synthesized by the alcohol reduction process with different atomic ratios. In this study, PtRu/CNT was prepared by an easy two-step synthesis method including adsorption and pyrolysis. In the first step, some functional groups on the CNT surface such as hydroxyl, carboxyl and carbonyl act as adsorption sites for metallic ions. Then, these surface functional groups play a role as nucleation center for catalyst deposition in the pyrolysis process. The Pt-Ru nanoparticles with diameters 2-5 nm were dispersed on the carbon nanotubes surface uniformly. The electrocatalysts were characterized by EDAX, XRD, TEM and CV from 0.5MH2SO4 aqueous solutions. |
