Synthesis and Characterzation of Polythiophene Nanoparticle by Fe3+-catalyzed Soap Free Oxidative Polymerization |

Poly(Thiophene/Thiophene acetate salt) (poly(Th/TA) nanoparticles were prepared by Fe3+ -catalyzed soap free oxidative polymerization and emulsion polymerization. The size of (poly(Th/TA) nano particles has been controlled by various concentration of monomers, i.e., Thiophene, and Thiophene acetate salt (TA-salt). The TA-salt acts as a polymeric stabilizer and film forming matrix in this study. As the amount of monomer increased, the final particle size of poly(Th/TA) nanoparticles also increased. However, the final particle size of poly(Th/TA) nanoparticles decreased with increase of TA-salt concentration. the size reduction induced the enhancement of photoluminescent property and quantum yield, which was calculated from photoluminescence spectra, due to the increase of surface area.
