DNA patterning on the PTFE surface by radiation-induced graft polymerization |

Polytetrafluoroethylene films were irradiated through a mask with 150 keV Argon ions and with fluences ranging from 1 x 1014 to 1 x 1017 ions/cm2 to activate their surface for graft polymerization. Patterned grafting of acrylic acid onto the irradiated area was carried out under various conditions. After graft polymerization, DNA immobilization was carried out on selectively grafted PTFE. The structure of the grafted surface was characterized by using FT-IR, XPS, SEM, and contact angle analysis. The patterns of DNA on surface modified PTFE was observed by confocal microscopy. |
