We synthesized new polynorbornenes with three kinds of (o-, m-, p-)phenylenediamines and two kinds of anhydrides(trans-1,2-Cyclohexanedicarboxylic anhydride and Phthalic anhydride). We made six kinds of monomer. And then We made six kinds of PNA modified with six kinds of monomer through thermal imidization. Polynorbornenes (PNB) modified with various imide moieties in a side chain exhibited excellent optical transparency in the visible region and low birefringence because of the weakened electron accepting properties and nonplanar steric structure of the imide moieties that originated from the alicyclic nature of polynorbornene. We demonstrate properties of polymers by thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, X-ray diffraction. They were characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR). |
