Recently, hydrogel-quantum dot (QD) nanocomposites have attracted a great deal of attention in biomedical fields because of their potential application to controlled drug delivery, bio-imaging, and magnetic separation. The magnetic silica nanospheres were synthesized through he sol-gel reaction of citrate-stabilized magnetites with silicon alkoxide. The core-shell magnetic particles were further encapsulated with PNIPAM-co-AAc hydrogels. Finally, hydrogel surface with carboxylic groups were conjugated with amine-functionalized quantum dots. The resulting nanocomposites were analyzed by PL, FTIR, DLS, and SEM. |
