Conductive hydrogels have been attractive for mimicking electrophysiological tissue environments. For designing conductive hydrogels, a variety of conductive polymers, such as polypyrroles (PPy), can be incorporated in the polymeric crosslinked network. However, there still remain challenges to develop flexible and stretchable conductive hydrogels due to limited solubility and brittle mechanical properties of the conductive polymers. Herein, we developed PPy-coated hyaluronic acid hydrogel fiber exhibiting high extensibility and toughness. For further study, the conductive hydrogel fibers would be promising as a scaffold material for cardiac and skeletal muscle fabrication. |
