We demonstrate a novel method of creating electrical conductor of metal/polyelectrolyte multilayer complexed films with high performance. Highly concentrated and percolated silver nanoparticles are incorporated into polyelectrolyte multilayer thin films, which are comprised with linear polyethylenimine and polyacrylic acid, by diffusion driven repetitive synthesis procedure between cationic exchange and reduction reaction. Consequently, the severity of local bending is smoothly alleviated by the Ag nanoparticles incubating polymeric matrix. Simultaneously, superior conductivity is stably sustained by percolated Ag nanoparticles in middle and top surface regions. In addition, Ag/PEM hybridized thin films could be patterned with micro-sized masks by photolithography and solution etching process. Finally, mechanical tests for flexible and superhydrophobic conductors are successively conducted by bendability, foldability and water droplet tests. |
