Polyesters such as poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET) were good materials of physical and mechanical properties that suited for a broad range of applications as engineering thermoplastics. However, petroleum derived PET was non-biodegradable polymer, emitted a large amount of carbon dioxide (CO2). For these reasons, 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid derived from hydroxyl methyl furfural (HMF) was interested in renewable based building block. In this study, aromatic copolyesters containing bio-based furanic unit in the main chain were synthesized using two kinds of terephthalate and 2,5-furandicarboxylate. We carried out homo-/copolymerization, two-steps of esterification and their condensation. We investigated the effect of mole ratio changes of renewable based acid and petroleum derived acid on their biopolymer’s thermal behavior and crystal pattern through differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). |
