제목 Developing Nafion/silica hybrid membrane using sol-gel process for redox flow battery
초록 Energy storage has become the critical issue for the world's future energy supply. The redox flow batteries offer the best combination of energy efficiency and life-cycle costs compared with other technologies. Redox flow batteries are designed to convert and store the electrical energy into the chemical energy and release it when required. Nafion/silica hybrid membrane is prepared by the sol-gel process and employed as the separator for Zn-Br redox flow battery. Nafion/silica hybrid membrane was prepared from Nafion dispersion solution and tetraethyl orthosilicate as silica precursor. The Nafion membrane was compared with the Nafion/silica hybrid membranes which have the various amount of silica. The characteristic properties of the Nafion/silica hybrid membranes are investigated by thermogravimetric analysis, scanning electron microscopy and LCR meter. Ion chromatograph detects the concentration of bromine ion which diffused.
