제목 Transparent nanopaper from self-assembled chitin nanofibers
초록 Paper, a flexible sheet composed of cellulose fibers, is one of the greatest inventions of mankind. Ever since its birth two millennia ago, paper has been ubiquitously utilized for a variety of essential applications from storing/displaying information to packaging, and artwork etc. Apart from these conventional uses, paper has recently attracted a great deal of attention as a substrate material for flexible ‘green electronics’ due to its unrivalled availability, biodegradability, light weight, and flexibility. Emerging with such new technological interest and demand is an advanced form of paper, the so called ‘nanopaper’. Unlike traditional paper which is basically opaque, the nanopaper is designed to attain a high level of optical transparency and even superior mechanical properties. Herein, I will introduce the fabrication of a large-area, optically transparent nanopaper made from self-assembled nanofibers of chitin, the second most abundant biopolymer only after cellulose and discuss its applications as substrate film for green electronics.
