Nonlinear Optical Chromophores containing Carbazole or Phenothiazine Bridge |

A number of researches have been made last one decade for the development of second-order nonlinear optical (NLO) materials because of their potential applications such as electro-optic modulator, photorefractive, optical memory devices, and optical frequency conversion system. Recently, we designed and synthesized novel NLO chromophores containing carbazole or phenothiazine bridge with respect of the push-pull model. The microscopic origin of the new NLO chromophore was studied by the UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy, ellipsometry, and cyclic voltammetry. The quantum mechanical properties were studied by using the semiempirical calculation and the energy-diagram for NLO chromophore was compared with the experimental results obtained with the electrochemical and spectroscopic analysis. |
